When people cheat, it?s not fair to other people, like the kids who studied for the test or who were the true winners of a game. Many people like the action of cheating. It makes difficult things seem easy, like getting all the right answers on the test. But it doesn?t solve the problem of not knowing the material and it won?t help on the next test-unless the person cheats again. Some people lose respect for cheaters and think less of them. The cheaters themselves may feel bad because they know they are not really earning those good grades. And, if they get caught cheating, they will be in trouble at school. Other kids might feel like they can?t pass the test without cheating. Even when there seems to be a “good reason” for cheating, but cheating isn?t a good idea. If you were sick or upset about something the night before and couldn?t study, it would be better to talk with the teacher about this. And if you don?t have enough time to study for a test because of swim practice, you need to talk with your parents about how to balance swimming and school. A kid who thinks cheating is the only way to pass a test needs to talk with the teacher and his or her parents so they can find some solutions together. Talking about these problems and working them out will be better than cheating. 21. The author thinks that when kids cheat in class, _____. A. it?s unfair to other people C. teachers should punish them B. it does harm to their health D. teachers shouldn?t stop them at once

22. Some students like cheating mainly tell us _____. A. the material in the test is very difficult B. they want to do better than the others

C. cheating can make hard things seem very easy 23. The FOURTH paragraph mainly tell us _____? A. cheating isn?t a good idea. C. some kids can?t pass the test without cheating.

D. they have little time to study their lessons

B. why kids cheat in the test. D. some kids don?t spend the time studying.

24. In the passage those cheaters are advised to _____? A. spend more time on school than on sports. C. try hard to be intelligent rather than lazy. B. talk with the teacher or parents. D. ask their classmates for good methods of study.

He put up at a hotel, and one morning he heard, while up in his room, the most wonderful whistling he had ever listened to. It seemed like the note of a bird, but he thought it could not be that, for there was a perfectly regular tune kept up with much power. Though he was in the third story, the music came straight up its sweet melody(曲调), and seemed to fill the whole house. The young man ran downstairs to get a sight of the wonderful performer, looking every man that he met in the face. At last, he asked the clerk who it was that had such amazing power as a whistler. Laughing at his question, the clerk pointed him to a canary(金丝雀) that had been trained to perform in this way, and was valued at $150. “How was that bird trained to sing this way?” the young man asked. In reply the clerk told him that during the training process the bird was nearly starved and shut up in a room that was almost dark. While it was under this severe discipline, with its attention undivided, an organ(风琴) was made to play this one tune over and over again for days. Hearing nothing else, and taught by its troubles, the poor little bird took up the tune, which it performed so perfectly. 29. What does the author think of the story written by Robert Boyd? A. Funny.
